One of the most popular and most visited show in the satellite industry, Satellite 2020, which was held last month in Washington D.C., is behind us. With its March date, this was supposed to be the show to mark the beginning of the year in the industry as everything is still fresh, everyone is ready for new challenges and new business opportunities. It is always nice when things start at the beginning of spring when everything is waking up and everyone is immediately ready to tackle the opportunities that come. We are sure that everyone was prepared and was ready to start the year with fresh new ideas but it turned out that Satellite 2020 may be the last industry event to be held for at least the next couple of months until the global pandemic concerning COVID-19 virus is held in check.
Unfortunately, this year, the show remained in the shadow of the COVID-19 virus. A week before it started as the situation with the virus escalated many big companies cancelled their exhibiting activities or changed their initial plans and decided to have a booth without people, only having large screens showing series of datasheets. Some had only the necessary staff which helped to prevent the show being postponed until fall, which most of the planned exhibitions and conferences started doing in mid March when things started to become more serious. There were those who, despite the circumstances, in the hope of new business opportunities, travelled to Washington and did their best to present in the best light. We thought a lot about the situation but our team was ready to go with the initial plan.
With twenty-one years behind us, we have learned and done a huge number of different things which has made it easy to present our expertise - a company that doesn't understand word „impossible” and truly understand the satellite industry. We made new connections and learned some new things that you might not even notice if the show was more crowded. Therefore, for us, the show was relatively good, we were careful to be safe and did our best to present Amphinicy in the best light.
We hope that the time ahead will bring normalization of the situation regarding COVID-19 and that we all will soon continue to meet and network with new potential clients as well as our colleagues from the industry at the upcoming exhibitions and conferences.
