We are looking for an intermediate/senior software architect to reinforce our team which has more than two decades of experience in the satellite industry. As our new colleague you will contribute to the specification and development of Governmental Satellite Communication Systems for one of our key customers. The role is based in our development center in the heart of Europe, the city of Luxembourg.
You will be an integral part of an already existing team of experienced, friendly, and talented colleagues, who are passionate about satellite-based communication, software development and support each other perfectly. You'll have the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies and take a leading role in ensuring the satellite communications of the future work properly!
You will actively participate in specification, implementation, validation, and delivery phases of the project. You will be expected to learn fast, be communicative, design and justify architectural software choices, following design and quality standards, on time and in budget. Most of all you have a passion for software design and development, allowing you to architect the software that perfectly fits the system needs.
What we are looking for
- You hold at least a Bachelor's degree in any Engineering Degree (or equivalent degree/work experience)
- You have 7+ years of experience working on software architecture and design
- You have participated in large software development projects, preferably ESA or EU funded
- You do not consider quality processes and associated documentation a useless overhead, in fact you nurture and advocate their use
- You know UML and Design Patterns are communication tools and SOLID principles guide your designs
- You understand the different communication styles and attitudes to adopt with system engineers, customers, project managers, quality assurance and development teams
- Whether you like being in the spotlight or not, you perform your central role as “glue” and champion of the architecture with the different actors and over time as the project evolves
- You have had practical experience confirming that TDD and DevOps are vital elements for a successful software project
- You will be comfortable working in Waterfall but prefer Agile projects, Stories, their Estimation and Sprint Ceremonies in general are no mystery to you
- You are meticulous and organized, ready to go the extra mile
- You are a fast-learner, eager for new concepts, not afraid when challenged to apply them
- You can work independently, but you also know when to ask for help
- You can identify and delegate work to the team
- You produce clean, readable, and well-structured documentation in impeccable English
