Blink modem as technology of choice for Turion Space's DROID mission

Amphinicy Technologies is continuing a successful collaboration with Turion Space in 2025. The customer has chosen the Blink modem for the ground side of communications with its DROID satellites. The collaboration started in 2023 when our team supported Turion’s first satellite: DROID.001, a demonstrator for the company’s satellite mission designed to improve space situational awareness.
Malfunctioning satellites and other space debris present significant risks to current and future space missions. US-based Turion Space is creating a fleet of autonomous spacecrafts (DROID satellites) designed to deliver in-space services, such as space domain awareness, the de-orbiting of non-functional satellites, and performing in-orbit inspections and repairs.
Turion is using the AWS virtualised ground segment including the Blink modem deployed in the AWS cloud to communicate with DROID satellites. For the DROID satellites mission, Blink handles the on-demand, high-speed, X-band mission downlink communication, demodulates the signal, decodes the data and provides advanced signal processing reports.
